Dr. De Leon
Dr. Juan Diaz de Leon grew up in Orem Utah. After highschool he was part of the inaugural men’s soccer program at Dixie State University. He then served a full-time mission for his Church in Independence, MO.
He went to Brigham Young University and studied Exercise science. He went to Utah State University for a rigorous training to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
Dr. Diaz married his high school sweetheart, Allie, and they have four energetic children and two rambunctious dogs. They enjoy spending time outside and giving back to the community. They are huge sports fans and love supporting all the local teams.
Dr. Pamela Gentile, DDS was raised in Wisconsin and lived most of her adult life in Arizona before coming to Utah. After graduating with high honors from UWM-Milwaukee with a bachelor’s degree in biology, she was awarded a full tuition scholarship to the prestigious Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, TX. In 2005, she received her Doctorate in Dental Surgery with honors. During school and throughout her career, she found that educating patients and helping the underserved became her main focuses.
Along with providing dental care at various clinics for the underserved, Dr. Gentile has also volunteered at numerous charitable events in Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah. Events close to her heart include Give Kids a Smile, Mission of Mercy, and Project Homeless Connect. Furthermore, she plans on helping our own underserved community right here at Platinum Dental Care through our donated services. Dr. Gentile also plans to embark on her first International mission to serve the dental needs in South America next year.
Dr. Gentile has a unique background unlike any other dentist you may meet. Not only has Dr. Gentile enjoyed playing piano for over 20 years, she also has over 10 years of experience in restoring vintage pianos prior to becoming a dentist. In 2013, Dr. Gentile was the first dentist to be a guest lecturer at the University of Utah School of Music to speak about how playing piano enhances her dental career.
Dr. Gentile enjoys all sorts music, music events, playing piano and walking her dog in the beautiful mountains of Utah. She loves the challenge of music trivia and encourages most everyone she meets to be involved in music or to learn an instrument. Dr. Gentile firmly believes that being involved in music grows the mind and improves motor skills needed in dentistry, medicine and other careers that require good hand skills. And as a former professor, you may find Dr. Gentile not only encouraging you to floss, but also to pursue a career and school path that help you grow not only professionally, but personally as well. And music might be a part of it.
Dr. Swenson grew up in Utah County, he attended Pleasant Grove and Mountain View high schools. After high school he served a mission with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in France and Switzerland. After his mission, Dr. Swenson attended BYU and earned a B.S. degree in Biochemistry. He then moved to Richmond, Virginia to attend VCU dental school. While there he met his wife, Andrea, as she returned from her mission in Colorado. They were married in the Washington, DC temple.
Dr. Swenson graduated from Dental school in 2015 with his DDS degree, honors from Quintessence Publications for his research in Oral Cancer, and honors from the American Academy of Periodontology for his work in Periodontics. Upon graduation from dental school with his DDS degree, Dr. Swenson and his wife moved to Iowa to attend residency at the University of Iowa. While in Iowa, Dr. Swenson and his wife had two children, Ammon and Melanie. Dr. Swenson Graduated from Residency in 2018 with an M.S. in Oral Sciences and a certificate in Periodontics. His masters project on 3D-bioprinting, a cutting-edge technique to to allow for 3-D printing of viable bone forming tissue, won the AADR Research Award for Post-graduate Periodontics and presented his research at the AADR national meeting.
Dr. Swenson is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association and the Utah Dental Association. His work has been published in the Journal of Virology, the Journal of Clinical Periodontology and the textbook used by the majority of dental programs Newman and Carranza’s Clinical Periodontology. Dr. Swenson’s practice covers the entire scope of periodontal therapy including treatment of periodontitis and gingivitis (gum Disease), gum grafting for recession coverage, bone grafting, dental implant placement, cosmetic periodontal surgeries and IV sedation.
